Position Description
TITLE: Building Manager (SUB I or II) 

SUPERVISOR: Operations Manager (SUB I or SUB II) 

STARTING RATE: $8.75 hr 

POSITION SUMMARY:  The Building Manager has the sole responsibility for night and weekend management of a 100,000 square foot Student Union Building. The position is responsible for the provision of AV equipment, building security, minor cleaning and setups as needed. The Building Manager also answers questions, distributes materials, directs phone calls, maintains Lost and Found and manages the information desk when on duty. 
RESPONSIBILITIES: 

1. Perform building inspection tours. Accountable for building security. Identify problem areas within the building and act on them as appropriate.

2. Ensure that all services provided by the facility are done effectively. Maintain order and cleanliness on an on-going basis. Respond to spills and overflowing trashcans. Setup AV equipment when necessary.

3. Enforce building and operating policies and procedures.

4. Report immediately any problems incurred during your shift(s) to supervisor. Complete the report form at the end of each shift.

5. Utilize scheduling database system and maintain a listing of daily meetings/programs in the Student Unions and on campus in general; direct users to proper rooms.

6. Provide information as requested by phone and to visitors of the Student Unions.

7. Maintain a supply of campus maps, class and bus schedules and other brochures in bins.

8. Assist in inventory and stock procedures.

9. Secure and distribute Lost and Found items turned in to desk.

10. Manage the use of student staff access keys while on duty.

11. Maintain Information Desk area by keeping it neat and clean at all times.

12. Participate and assist in on-going training of student staff.

13. Attend staff meetings; dress in appropriate attire; wear name tags and uniforms; wear walkie-talkies while on duty.

14. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Ability to work independently and take initiative.

2. Demonstrated leadership ability.

3. Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds.

4. Completed at least one semester at Mason, preferably and extensive knowledge of the University.

5. Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0.
