Candy! Giveaways! Pumpkins! Costumes!

What does all this mean? The 2016 Halloween shopMason kiosk day!

On Thursday, October 27, 11 – 2, shopMason vendors will take over the Johnson Center Atrium kiosks for their annual Halloween shopMason Kiosk Day! Students can stop by and learn about shopMason services, discounts, and promotions!

Students can find the following shopMason participants present on Oct. 27:

Pumpkin-Carving!
Each shopMason kiosk will display a creatively themed pumpkin for our pumpkin-carving contest, and students can vote for their favorite! Last year, Apple FCU took home the prize for best pumpkin. This year, will they defend their title or will a new shopMason vendor blow them away? You can help us decide!

Costume Contest!
shopMason will also host a costume contest at the kiosks! Come to the Johnson Center Atrium wearing your best costume for a chance to win prizes! Judges will choose their favorite costumes for our Scary and Funny/Traditional categories. Our judges will make their decisions based on four main criteria in each costume category:

  • Creativity/Originality: To score more points here, make sure your costume is unique and creative! Dress as something nobody else would think of!
  • Level of Difficulty: Our judges will give the highest scores to costumes that required more effort and/or feature appropriate extra features like accessories and props.
  • Authenticity: Students with the most authentic, well-thought-out costumes are the ones who will score higher with our judges!
  • Being in character: Show our judges that you are your costume! At the kiosks, act like the character or thing you’re dressed as to really blow our judges away.

Judges will choose 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners for both the Scary and the Funny/Traditional costume categories. 1st place winners will take home headphones, 2nd place winners will receive a GMU sweatshirt, and 3rd place winners will get a free semester Corner Pocket Club membership!

Trick or Tweet!
During the costume contest, you can tweet a picture of your costume using the hashtag #shopMason! Encourage your friends to retweet and favorite your costume to help influence our judges’ decision! Unable to make it to the Atrium? You can enter on Twitter with a selfie of you in your costume and using #shopMason.

We look forward to seeing you in the JC Atrium on Oct 27 for Halloween fun!
